"Collapsing under a canopy of green..."

Collapsing under a canopy of green, I watch everyone around me running back and forth across campus and wonder what their rush is. It's just class. The world won't end if they're late or if they miss or even if they fail and have to repeat it. It's not going to effect anything in the grand scheme of things. Soon, they'll be out of school and won't even remember half of their current friends' names. No, I'd rather rest here and watch than hurry off to some class to be bored.

And so I sit and watch the trees and the birds and the wind talk to each other. I nod my head and pretend I understand. I think they laugh at me behind my back. It doesn't bother me though. Today nothing can bother me. The tests I'm nervous about, the papers that are due, don't phase me. My relationship issues don't even cross my mind.

but years from now, I'll still be having nightmares about failing to get my degree by two credit hours. I'll wake up shaking and then remember, I graduated six years before.
