on a spider crossing the road

Last night
you finally
admitted
your love.

You woke
this morning
with nothing
on your mind
but crossing
that street.

You whistled
a tune
as you dropped
off the curb
and started
the journey
that would end
in her arms.

She started
across
from the
other side
and you
ran faster.

O spider!
Watch out!

The driver
didn't see you
but if he had
he would have
smiled.

A spider
bit his kid
the other day.
He would
consider it
revenge.

Don't worry
sweet spider,
you'll be
immortal.

The driver
didn't see you,
but someone
else did.
