These are a few poems I wrote based on prompts. This poetry is often short and raw because I don't do much editing with it. It's my practice
Fly on the wall
don't tell
the secrets of our household -
and you might live to see
another day.
On second thought -
you know too much
already
and so there's a flyswatter
with your name on it.
Don't worry
your secrets will be safe
with me.
What I'd give
to live the life
of a leaf
floating down the river
with no other purpose
than to float.
No thoughts
about where
it's going,
or what will happen
once
it's there
cloud its mind.
It lies back
and watches
the stars rush by,
the sun's warmth,
and the sounds
of the world
around it.
The leaf tastes freedom
and then is gone.
Millions of stars in the sky
and I can't reach them
I try to reach them
to offer them to you
Words rest on my tongue
and I can't reach them
if i could just reach them
and make you understand
That moments lost will never end
they're safe there in the center of the stars
this moment is the beginning
and the end is just one moment caught in time
Billions of stars in the sky
and I can't reach them
if I could just reach them
I would make you understand.
